ATT.

Also called: App Tracking Transparency

App Tracking Transparency: Apple’s framework (since iOS 14.5) requiring apps to ask permission before tracking users across other companies’ apps and sites.

Under ATT, an app must show a system prompt and receive consent before accessing the IDFA or tracking the user across apps. Many users decline, which sharply reduced user-level attribution on iOS and shifted the industry toward aggregated measurement through SKAdNetwork and, later, AdAttributionKit.

ATT’s effects are felt in targeting precision, measurement delay and the feedback ad algorithms receive — which is why iOS campaign optimisation became harder than Android’s.
