Definition

Banner ad.

Also called: Banner

A persistent ad strip, usually at the top or bottom of the screen, that refreshes on a timer while the player is in session.

Banners generate low revenue per impression but many impressions, because they refresh periodically (commonly around every 30 seconds) for as long as they are on screen. Their contribution scales with session length.

They take up screen space and can affect layout and perceived quality. Some games remove them for payers or as part of a “remove ads” purchase.
