Definition

Energy system.

Also called: Lives, Stamina

A mechanic that limits how much a player can play in a session, refilling over time or via purchase — both a pacing and a monetization lever.

Energy (lives, stamina) caps consumption, which paces content and creates return sessions. It also shapes the rhythm of the product: when players leave, when they come back, and whether unused capacity feels wasted.

Tightening energy can raise conversion while changing how much of the game players experience before paying — which is why a pricing test here is also a product change.
