Definition

Event debt.

The build-up that happens when live events stop amplifying a game’s core loop and start substituting for it.

Event debt accumulates quietly: dashboards show healthy spikes, but engagement between events weakens, so the game needs more events to stand still. The symptom is an ordinary week that looks worse and worse. The remedy is in the core loop, not in more events.
